Role Overview
As a Commis Chef, you will play a key role in assisting our award winning kitchen team to deliver high-quality dishes that meet our hotel's luxury standards. This entry-level position is perfect for someone eager to learn and advance within the catering and hospitality industry. Working closely with senior chefs, you will gain hands-on experience and contribute to the smooth running of our kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food to the highest standards, following recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Assist in the daily preparation of ingredients including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure timely and efficient delivery of meals.
- Adhere to food hygiene, safety, and quality standards at all times.
- Receive and store deliveries, checking the quality and freshness of all ingredients.
- Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions to continually improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential; enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and a team player attitude.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for food quality and presentation.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
